Cassie Luong
“The involvement of the faculty at Austin College is a main reason I am here. Most of the professors pour so much into their teaching. They are always here as professors academically as well as someone a student can talk to. Many times I find myself with a professor talking about life and getting advice. They actually care about the students and treat students fairly and with respect — which impresses me to no end!”

Emily Austin

Emily Margaret Austin was a sister to an empire as the second daughter, born in 1795, to Moses and Maria Brown Austin. She was the sibling of Stephen F. Austin and was very much a matriarch in Texas society. The Emily Austin Society honors benefactors whose philanthropy has been foremost in the success of the College and in recognition of their significant legacy.

Stephen F. Austin

The Stephen F. Austin Society was founded to permanently recognize those exceptional donors who, through truly generous gift investments in excess of $100,000, have under girded Austin College in its mission to provide a liberal arts education of the highest caliber.

Szende Szabo

“If I were given the privilege to thank the generous people that give the funds for our scholarships I would try to express the following: Please be assured that your generosity and support do not go without notice and are very much appreciated. I want to assure you that I and my fellow students are doing our best not to lose the confidence and trust that you have given us by investing in our education. I know that being here is a privilege and I humbly thank you for helping me follow my dream.”

Sarah Chilmeran

“My Austin College experience, up to this point, has been enriching and more challenging than I had expected. Faculty members expect a lot from the students and push us constantly so that we will raise our standards and expectations. I am currently taking “Introduction to Sociology” with Bart Dredge and it is my most enjoyable class so far. Although an 8 a.m. class I look forward to it because the material — which is interesting in itself — isn't covered in textbook fashion. The professor stands at the front of the room and has an eye-opening conversation with us every day.”

Kola Alade

“What first connected with me about Austin College is that it is like a family environment. Everybody fits in here; there are no outsiders at Austin College. People seem very accepting of cultures and backgrounds that are different from theirs. Too, all the professors, coaches, staff, the president — everyone seems to care about people and about every student’s future.”

John Leftwich

“Austin College has given me an appreciation for learning, a global perspective, and lasting friendships. Austin College has changed me from a diamond in the rough to a diamond polished on every facet. My time at Austin College has let me sit in the Sistine Chapel and appreciate its beauty, learn about the rise of Russian communism, learn what the story of Beowulf is really about, and learn exactly what the United Nations does.”
