Governor Rick Perry appointed Light Cummins, professor of history, as Texas State Historian in May.

Two faculty members and two students received Fulbright awards for the 2009-2010 year; Bart Dredge was named a Minnie Stephens Piper Professor; and numerous students and faculty received other year-end honors.
